On September 9th, the ACCESS CHINA BD Reception, hosted by YAFO Capital and co-organized by iDeals, was successfully conducted at YAFO's Shanghai office. We gathered 60 professionals from pharmaceutical companies, biotechnology firms, and venture capital institutions around the world to discuss the latest trends in the pharmaceutical and biotechnology sectors. The reception, through keynote speeches, cocktail parties, and client meetings, has provided an excellent platform for professionals to communicate and collaborate. They shared industry insights and valuable experiences, explored the cooperation needs and strategies of different companies, and sought to identify and establish potential partnerships. 

The reception began with an opening speech by Victor Ye, Head of the YAFO China division, who welcomed all the distinguished guests.

Following that, the reception proceeded to the keynote presentations segment.

Fan Zheng, Partner and Head of Execution at YAFO Capital presented a talk titled "2024 First Half Year Licensing Transaction Trends ".

John Yuan, Global Vice President of East Asia from iDeals, shared insights on "How VDR facilitates your BD transactions".

Subsequently, representatives from four major pharmaceutical companies—Aspen, BI, Novo Nordisk, and Almirall—shared their preferred collaboration strategies.

Larry Merizalde, CEO of Aspen China, shared Aspen’s partnering strategy.        

Marcio Lasaro, Director of Global BD&L, and Vincent Han, Associate Director of Global BD&L at BI, discussed their partnering strategy and current focuses.

Jenny Yang, Head of External Innovation, Asia Pacific at Novo Nordisk, shared her insights on external innovation.

Dmitry Tsay, Licensing Transactions Director at Almirall, shared Almirall’s partnering strategy.

Following the speaking segment, the cocktail reception commenced. The atmosphere was lively. We experienced the dynamism of cooperation and innovation in the pharmaceutical industry and observed the significant potential for mutually beneficial collaboration.

The reception was a resounding success. It not only provided a valuable platform for professionals in the domestic and international pharmaceutical industries to communicate effectively but also facilitated the exchange of information within the industry and offered participants substantial opportunities for collaboration. We look forward to these interactions bearing fruit and injecting new vitality into the future development of the pharmaceutical industry.
